The Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) was established by Mongol ruler Kublai Khan, who conquered China and became the first non-native emperor. The dynasty saw significant cultural exchange and economic growth, but also faced rebellion and corruption. The Mongol rulers imposed their own customs and religion, while also embracing Chinese culture. Famous achievements include the creation of the Grand Canal and Marco Polo's visit. However, oppressive policies towards the Han people and natural disasters led to peasant uprisings and the eventual overthrow of the dynasty.
